Exemplary Attendance Program

Incentives, such as restaurant coupons provided by local businesses, are distributed to Pattonville elementary and middle school students with exemplary attendance. In 2007-2008, more than 14,000 coupons worth over $69,000 were distributed to students with outstanding attendance. At year-end, 38 eighth-grade students received a $50 United States Savings Bond for maintaining exemplary attendance throughout their eighth-grade school year. Businesses supporting the exemplary attendance program are: Bob Evans, Books A Million, Casa Gallardo, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, Fuzio’s, Hollywood Video, Home Town Buffet, McDonald’s, Nascar, and Olivette Lanes. Program guidelines are distributed each September. Please call 213-8096 for additional information.

Student Shadowing

The School/Business Partnership Office provides Pattonville High School students the opportunity to supplement classroom learning through on-the-job experiences in local businesses in cooperation with our job shadowing program and National Job Shadow Day. Call 213-8095 for information on how your business can participate in job shadowing.

Grants and Foundation

The School/Business Partnership Office works with organizations to locate and implement grants in the Pattonville School District. We assist students in seeking and applying for scholarships. For example, each year the Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Communities Chamber of Commerce award scholarships to Pattonville students. Please contact our office if you have grant or scholarship opportunities available.

GED/Basic Reading and Math Skills

Free GED and Literacy classes are available for anyone 16 years of age or older who is not currently enrolled in high school. Teachers and tutors can help you prepare for the GED exam or improve your reading, writing, and math skills. Classes are held at Pattonville High School on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at Fee Fee Baptist Church, 11330 St. Charles Rock Road in Bridgeton from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Students may begin at any time during the school year. All books and materials are provided free of charge. To enroll, please call (314) 415-4940.

North County School/Business Partnership, Inc. — Activities for Students and Teachers

Each year Pattonville students are invited to participate in North County School/Business partnership activities. Seven public school district, four parochial schools, North Technical High School, and the St. Louis Community College form an alliance, which sponsors career activities for students. The Sophomore Opportunity Fair provides tenth-grade students an opportunity to hear a variety of career speakers in a "seminar" atmosphere. The Jobs Skills Fair each spring gives juniors and seniors an opportunity to prepare for the job interview process. Seventh grade students attend the Leadership Academy, providing opportunities for developing leadership skills. In addition, Pattonville High School students are invited to participate in the annual Business Ethics Seminar.

Supplementary Resources

The School/Business Partnership Office works with the community and area businesses to provide guest speakers, arrange field trips to enhance curriculum and instruction, and help distribute surplus supplies from businesses such as science laboratory equipment and art materials. We disseminate information about job openings, internships, scholarships, and grants. Our goal is to develop partnerships between Pattonville schools and area businesses.

The Pattonville A+ Program and Business Education Advisory Committees have members from the business community. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees, please call 213-8095.

Partnership Opportunities

Several non-profit organizations offer scholarships to our students. Both Maryland Heights Chamber of Commerce and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce as well as Kiwanis Groups offer scholarships each spring and present them at the Membership meetings in May each year.
